Day 2 of New Allotment

Tuesday 29th July 2014 - second day of clearing the weeds.  Time to tackle the 4ft high nettles.  Managed to clear up to half of the plot and sprayed it with weed killer.

The New Allotment

On Saturday 26th July, I was given my new allotment.  I've been on the list for just over a year, so I'm really lucky to get an allotment so quickly.  It's based on the Bolam Avenue site in Blyth, which is one of the largest complexes in Blyth.

The allotment is brand new and has never been cultivated, hence the reason why the weeds are nearly 4ft high.  It is a half size plot but is more than big enough for me.  I've certainly cultivated a larger plot in the past, my garden in Hartlepool was twice the size of this new plot.

my first visit was on Sunday and I can at least open the gate now.  When I'm faced with a large plot in this kind of mess, I mentally and physically break it down into thirds, this makes it a much more manageable  area to tackle.

Off to the allotment again tomorrow to clear some more weeds and then give the area a good spray with weed killer.
